Aloha,
I am looking for an English teaching job in Japan again. I lived in Japan for six years, then because I owned a place here in the Islands and was overworked, moved back home. Now, I've got the urge to move back to Japan for a while and work, save money and enjoy washoku and onsen!I would prefer a college, company or university job, but will consider almost any kind of teaching situation except a children only teacher. It just does not suit my temperament. I was hoping to stay in Chiba or a similar place close to a good surfing beach.
Other Qualifications:
- Well, I got my MA TESOL from UCF and soon after, moved to Japan to seek my fortune.I believe that because I've been teaching English to Japanese students for almost a decade now, I have gained a lot of feeling and intuition as how to be an effective instructor. Also, teaching company employees is something I feel is a strong point, just as I know that teaching children is a weak point.
Work Experience:
- As I mentioned above, I have been a professional ESL instructor since 2000 and have taught a wide cross section of students from a multitude of nations, but mostly Japanese.My goal now is to seek a position at one or more Japanese universities, something I applied for, but did not get during my last six years there. I also would like to continue teaching business classes to employees of Japanese companies, as I have found this to be very rewarding on more than one level. In Hawai'i, i've been acting as a substitute and doing private lessons and have been teaching and continuing to develop and refine an English Through Films Class for two years.
