I recently graduated from Saint John’s University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication with an emphasis in Visual Art, Communication Theory, and Media Studies. I had the privilege of studying for six months in Athens, Greece and Rome, Italy. My TESOL certification is from Oxford Seminars. My personable demeanor, outgoing nature, and dedication make me a strong candidate for a full-time ESL teaching position.
I believe that an exceptionally qualified teacher should be caring, supportive, active, easy-going, hard-working, energetic, responsible, punctual, patient, creative, and passionate. These are all characteristics I possess which will benefit me and my students in the classroom every day. I am an artist and a musician, which allows me to create a fun and active learning environment; it is important to allow creativity to fuel the desire to learn. As a teacher I would remain active and adaptive in order to help cater to students of all learning styles. In the classroom there should be a good balance between fun and studying. Oxford Seminars has taught me to work with any individual or age group, to keep a professional mindset, and to foster a positive and retentive work environment.
My experiences and skills will further assist me in this position. I have worked in a diverse set of jobs which has contributed to my open-mindedness. In each position that I have held I have learned customer service, leadership, organization, and presentation skills. My semester abroad in Europe has allowed me to view life with a global mindset. It has given me a desire to continuously learn and to strive for excellence in every endeavor in which I am involved. I have also volunteered for many years leading worship and helping my community in various ways. My life is focused around art, music, theatre, and poetry and I will draw upon these creative skills to make the classroom engaging and supportive.
